Handmade Photocollages

Two edition - ed. 2/2 - of the Original handmade photocollage were printed as a Fine Art Print,

Windows and female figures have been a recurring element in my work. But in this series, the curtains of my windows have been metaphorically transformed into drapes, *rebozos and veils. I am inspired by the symbolic content, and poetic beauty of this pure feminine object. Its function is multi-layered, culturally permeated, and often paradoxical: Curtains protect but also divide.

What stories are interwoven in their threads? By embodying this experience, like a performance, I photographed myself using windows, curtains, drapes, rebozos, and veils as visual metaphors and explorations.

The figures are bound and enveloped by the color blue, between freedom and confinement, between strength and vulnerability. Blue is the color of contemplation and meditation… It represents endless space, depth and silence: A territory that belongs to thoughts, prayers and ideas.

*rebozos , typical Mexican shawls
