I take my photographs with a painter’s eye looking for textures, colours and subjects like windows, skies, trees, plants, roots and architectural spaces. In my studio I work from this personal archive to create new compositions by fragmenting, layering and juxtaposing selected images. The process is manual, digital or a combination of both. I use different materials - including paper versus acetate, monochrome versus colour, reflective versus opaque surfaces - to delve deeper into the different layers we build and imprint our experiences and memories upon.

My aspiration is to evoke a deep longing for inner and outer space, freedom, solace and contemplation. For me, one of the greatest human gifts is our imagination! It can transport us to the place we choose to inhabit and be able to see a world full of potential and possibilities. The colored geometrical forms act as windows, that open up to the vast sky, where plants or trees can flourish by breaking through the black and white, confined, urban concrete. The final work is positive in nature, inspired by the resilience some plants have to grow in limiting or inhospitable conditions: A metaphor for Life.
